...a little bit about me

I have a Bachelor of Art (Ceramic Design), a Graduate Diploma of Education in Secondary and am currently completing a Master of Visual Art in Sculpture. In 2009 I applied and  was accepted to attend a ceramic art residency in Vallauris in FRANCE. I worked with artists from Korea, Holland and the USA for 5 weeks, culminating in a group exhibition. Following on from this experience I was asked to apply for the International Ceramics Forum held in Zibo in 2010. Again I was successful and participated in a 3 week residency with 16 ceramic artists from all over the world including, China, USA, Korea, New Zealand, Turkey, Argentina, Greece, Russia and India. During this time we produced artworks for two exhibitions, one in Zibo and one in Qingdao, China. Three of my ceramic sculptures were acquired and are now represented in 2 Public International Art Collections in the Li Zu Yuan Ceramic Art Museum and the Qingdao Art Museum. I am now an invited member of the International Ceramic Art Association. In 2009 I was the recipient of a Regional Arts Victoria grant and and a local shire grant. I have had numerous group and solo exhibitions and my work is represented in private collections in Australia, UK, USA, France and China.

In 2012 I attended the International Ceramics Association forum which was held in India. I was also selected to attend as a resident artist in SETO, JAPAN. I spent 5 weeks in January and February 2012 working in an open studio creating ceramic sculptures, visiting a local ceramics school and teaching a workshop. It was an amazing experience and I have made some wonderful new friends. Check out the blog page to read about the whole experience.

In 2013 I was part of a group exhibition in Hyderabad in India and also was invited to attend the Wanju Mascabal Woodfiring workshop and again created work for an exhibition. My work "Absurdities" was shortlisted and exhibited at the Cheongju International Biennale in South Korea and also for the Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Prize in Victoria, Australia.

2014 brings a range of new opportunities for me and my work. I was invited to attend residencies in Lithuania, Turkey, South Korea and China, but due to needing some time in the studio I will only be attending the International Ceramics Association Forum in Zibo, China. A work called 'gathering' was selected for the Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award which I am really excited to be part of.

2015 was a very successful year. I won the Lorenzo il Magnifico Award at the Florence Biennale in Italy - first prize for ceramics. I attended a symposium in China, had a solo exhibition at Briagalong Gallery in Australia andcreated so much new work.  In 2016 I will be going to the Tokyo Art Fair and I have just signed a contract for a  solo exhibition in Manhattan , New York.
